Genkai Danchi is a gripping psychological drama set in Ayamecho Complex, a once-lively public housing complex in the suburbs of Tokyo. Decades after its 1970s heyday, the complex has fallen into decay, populated by an aging and indifferent community. The stagnant atmosphere shifts when sixty-two-year-old Terauchi Seiji moves in with his six-year-old granddaughter Honoka and his elderly father Hitoshi. After losing his son and daughter-in-law in a tragic fire, Terauchi hopes to rebuild their lives in the place of his happy childhood. He eagerly introduces himself to neighbors Sakurai Eriko and Takashi, attempting to foster community spirit. However, his enthusiasm clashes with the unmotivated residents and their passive chairman, Kaneda Teppei. Driven by a desire to restore the complex to its former glory for Honoka, Terauchi takes matters into his own hands. As his actions become increasingly intense, the community must face a chilling question: is Terauchi a savior or a devil?
