Description:

Set in 1895 during the Meiji 28 era, People of Fuyou: The Wife on the Top of Mt. Fuji is a gripping drama about love, sacrifice, and survival. Itaru attempts a dangerous midwinter climb of Mt Fuji to build a meteorological observatory on the summit and advance weather studies. While his parents and younger brother support his risky ambition, his wife, Chiyoko, is consumed by anxiety. Convinced Itaru will die alone on the mountain, she makes the bold decision to climb with him. Despite fierce opposition from her mother-in-law Tomiko, who demands she stay home, Chiyoko secretly plans her departure. Deceiving those around her, she bravely joins her husband on the treacherous journey. Together on the frozen summit, the husband and wife must battle extreme cold and severe altitude sickness as they attempt to make scientific history.
