Description:

Flesh and Spirit tells the story of Xu Lingjun, played by Yu Xiaowei. Abandoned by his capitalist father who fled to the United States on the eve of New China's birth, Xu Lingjun is later wrongly classified as a capitalist. In the early 1960s, he is sent to Helan Mountain Farm Team 7, where he pairs up with the kind Li Xiuzhi, portrayed by Sun Hao. Despite facing twenty years of unfair situations, Xu Lingjun holds onto his dreams, nurturing rural children into artistic talents. Following the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, Xu Ling is transferred to Yinchuan for cultural studies. To prove the value of culture, he establishes a film company, transforming Zhenbei Fort into a famous national filming location. Through art, he leads the farm staff to mutual prosperity, turning ruins into wonders and writing a legendary story of an intellectual clinging to his beliefs.
