Fighter in The Wind follows the epic journey of Choi Bae Dal, an ambitious Korean fighter in war-torn Japan. When his mentor Beom Su is killed by the Yakuza, a devastated Bae Dal retreats to the mountains. Inspired by legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, he undergoes gruelling physical training to perfect his karate. Upon returning to civilization, Bae Dal challenges and defeats every dojo in the country, earning international fame. However, his ultimate test awaits as he must confront Kato Harada once again to prove his style of Chosun Martial Arts is supreme. Amidst the violence, Bae Dal finds solace in his romance with Youko, confessing the deep fear that drives him.
