Aozakura: Boei Daigakuko Monogatari centers on Kondo Isami, a bright high school student facing immense pressure due to his family's financial difficulties. As he contemplates his future path, Kondo discovers the Defence Academy, a government-affiliated institution offering not only exemption from admission and school fees but also a monthly allowance for its students. Seeing this as his best chance, he commits to joining the academy.

After graduating high school, Kondo successfully enrolls in the Defence Academy, marking the beginning of a transformative new life. He quickly forms a tight-knit group of friends with fellow cadets, including Matsuhira Yosuke, Okita Soji, Harada Tadashi, and Takei Tomoaki. However, the initial camaraderie and welcoming atmosphere dramatically change following the entrance ceremony. Senior students, led by figures like Sakaki Ryuya and Nishiwaki Takashi, abruptly adopt a strict and demanding demeanor, initiating a regimen of rigorous coaching that challenges Kondo and his new friends from their very first steps.
