The film Akira to Akira tells the story of two young men with the same name but completely different upbringings. Akira Kaido, played by Osamu Mukai, comes from a wealthy background where his father successfully ran a large company. In stark contrast, Akira Yamazaki, played by Takumi Saito, comes from a difficult background marked by struggle after his father went bankrupt, forcing the family to run away during the middle of the night.

Fate brings these two contrasting individuals together when they are hired at the same bank. In April 1986, the intense training for new bank employees begins. As part of their preparation, two teams are created to carry out a crucial mission. Representing two different worlds, Akira Kaido and Akira Yamazaki are selected to lead the opposing teams, sparking a fierce rivalry.
