In the inspiring drama The Curtain Rises, Saori, Yukko, Garuru, Nakanishi, and Akemi are high school students living in a quiet provincial city. As passionate members of their school's playgroup, they share a love for performing but lack a grand vision for their future. Everything changes when Yoshioka, a new teacher who used to perform in college plays back in Tokyo, joins their high school. Inspired to test their talents, the girls decide to enter a play competition, aiming to make it through the regional rounds. However, their ambitious new mentor believes they are capable of much more. Yoshioka challenges the group, telling them they are aiming too low and that they must set their sights on the national competition instead. This heartwarming film follows the students as they overcome self-doubt, push their creative boundaries, and strive for national glory under the guidance of a teacher who believes in their true potential.
